A Poem by Sr. Juliemarie McDonald, SND

“I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
Mark 1:8

Baptismal day I held infinity.
The eyes of God looked down and
saw the Trinity.
Someday, somehow, somewhere,
I’ll bear Divinity.
Over hills of a new Nazareth,
new song of soul’s sublimity – Magnificat.

Thanks for your poem, Juliemarie.
The phrase from readings that strikes me today is “he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful this Advent season.

“Someday, somehow, somewhere,
I’ll bear Divinity.”

This phase speaks volumes for me as to what it means to be an itinerant Sister of Notre Dame. The SOMEWHERE is always an open ended Mystery of Grace from the present moment to the future. I just need to be alert and aware.

Blessings on your new ministry..

Antoinette, what a beautiful application of the poem. Your response has deepened my own appreciation of vocation. Thank you. Juliemarie
