A Prayer Poem by Sr. Juliemarie McDonald for December 18, 2011

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you;” Luke 1:35

Empty
Me of my habits and behaviors that harm me and others.
Prepare in me an emptiness for God’s
Transforming Power.
You, who were formed in Mary’s womb,
who did not regard equality with God something to be grasped at,
teach me how to be an empty vessel and ready for your coming.

Julie…I love your poems which I just learned about from Susan Wolf. Look forward to reading more now that we’re “connected.” My wishes to you for a most blessed Christmas. Patti

Dear Patti, I am glad the poems are meaningful to you. May they lead you deeper into the emptiness where he dwells. A blessed fourth week of Advent.

Looking over a landscape of loneliness, waywardness, sin and sorrow, I
Remain firmly convinced that for God, nothing is impossible. As dark as this time certainly is, there is One that the darkness cannot hide. God is here. Jesus is coming no longer to a lowly manger in a foreign land. He is being born in hearts, minds and souls throughout the world.

Dear Joe, this is my prayer for the world. Lord, find the empty spaces in the hearts of your children and fill them with your loving goodness and provident care. A blessed 4th week of Advent. Sr. Juliemarie
