What About You?

“Jesus then said to the Twelve, ‘Do you also want to leave?’”
(John 6:67)

What About You?

Day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year,
routines and rut living leave little choice.
We live and move and have our being in robot land.

At some point in our living, logic creates an unsure puzzle;
Pieces don’t fit.
A choice must be made.
We have to stop, think, weigh options, then make the right choice.

“Do you also want to leave?”

Will we be Peter or an unbelieving disciple?
May we follow in the footsteps of the Twelve.
May we continue to follow our Good Shepherd
As we journey through green pastures,
through rocky ravines,
or dry deserts.

Believe that we shall never find a more trustworthy Guide.
I’m staying.
What about you?

For Reflection and Sharing:

1.    Why did some of the disciples decide to leave Jesus?
2.    What things might tempt us from following the Good Shepherd?
3.    Which virtue do you need most to make the decision to follow?
4.    Why is the Sacrament of Reconciliation a powerful tool in our faith journey?
