A Prayer Poem by Sr. Juliemarie McDonald, SND, for the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, Cycle B, January 8,  2012

“We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.” (Matthew 2:2b)

A shepherd King, a ruler, a Lord
by all adored.
A radiance, a light, a revelation
to all the nations.

A shepherd King,
the Lamb of God.

Sceptered power
bringing peace to the poor.

Regal royalty
reigning with justice,
loving the lowly.

Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.
In Christ Jesus, the Gentiles are co-heirs with the Jews,
and sharers in God’s promise.

With the Magi we observe his star at its rising
and have come to pay him homage.
