Merry-Go-Round

in Ordinary Time

“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and
rest a while.” (Mark 6:31b)

Prayer Poem for the Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time—Cycle B
July 22, 2012

Mount the “Merry-Go-Round” of life,
of ups and downs,
of glory and strife.

“Round and round she goes,
where she stops
nobody knows.”

Sleep, eat, work, eat, work, eat, sleep.
Sleep, eat, work, eat, work, eat, sleep.
Mystical music keeps the beat.

Weary ones, “come apart and rest a while.”
Drop that frown; put on a smile.
Rest, play, balance your day.
Find a quiet place; reflect and pray.

“I have come to give life to the full.”
Balance is the secret, balance the tool.
Silence and solitude is rest for the soul.
Love and service is your roll;
“Come apart and rest a while.”

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. How much balance have you in life?
  2. Where is your deserted place?
  3. Which weary person can find rest with you?

Christopher, this is timely for what most people are going through.
That’s why it is so important to listen to the message of the Lord. Come, rest, find some quiet time, pray.
