Pentecost

by Sr. Juliemarie McDonald, SND on 05/24/2012

in Easter

…they were all in one place together….Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. (Acts 2: 1b,3)

A Prayer Poem by Sister Juliemarie McDonald, SND,
for Pentecost
May 27, 2012

Come,
With blowing rush of wind,
Come, dove, ready to wing,
Shape our souls for your descent into us.
Visitor…
Gift…
Donor, with no limit to liberality.
Gift-ladened gift of God,
Come.

Come,
Fire of Charity,
Fire-bright tongue,
Flash with light,
Flame with energy,
Leap with love,
Light of minds and hearts,
Make us lights for the whole Church.

Come,
Spirit of Truth,
Teacher of the Church’s doctrine,
Fullness of Wisdom.
Fill us with fervor,
And fruitfulness
And right desires. Amen.

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. What special gift have you received from the Spirit?
  2. What gift of the Holy Spirit would you like to receive?
  3. Which of the gifts of the Spirit do you think is needed in our times?

It is a delight to me that the poem makes you think. To me that means the Holy Spirit is alive and well and working in our hearts to transform us into the likeness of Christ.

Agreed, tags get you linked to other places on the internet and more and more people hear the Word of God. A blessed feast of Pentecost to you.
