in Advent

Second Sunday of Advent–Cycle A
December 8, 2013

“Produce good fruit as evidence of your repentance.”
(Matthew 3:8)

Catcher of Tears

Broken, wounded, unhealed, yet I
Resist your call to grace and growth. “Some
Other time, God. Not now! Let me weep.”
Kind God, catcher of my tears, when I pleaded with you,
Enough, enough!
No more, Lord. Healing Lord, you
Never left me. In your time you compassionately called me to change,
Even heeded my enough, then dried my tears.”
Suffering and sorrow were but the seasons of my soul this Advent.
Springtime and Sister Joy eventually returned.
See Lord, please don’t overlook the bit of good fruit produced
to show you, “ I’ve changed a little!”

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. What is one way to show God you are really ready for change?
  2. What new change will put a balance back into our lives?
  3. What needs to be changed in our cities, villages, schools, homes and places of work?
  4. How will I make a difference?
  5. How is change related to hope, peace and joy?
