Coming Out

Coming Out

Jesus calls us as he called Lazarus.
“Come out!”
Too long have you cocooned yourself,
have you lingered in the tomb of pain and suffering.

Like Lazarus,
Like a hidden butterfly in its chrysalis,
it is time to burst the bonds,
to unwind those binding cloths.
Jesus calls to you,
“Come out!”

Bless your pain and suffering.
The Paschal Mystery journey you have shared with our crucified Savior makes you like him.

Bless your pain and suffering.
Victor now over the death of self,
Victor freed to fly once more in the meadows of compassionate living,

“Come out!”
Rise from your tomb.
Begin again your new life.

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. How is the raising of Lazarus a “preview of coming attractions?”
  2. What are some of the pains and sufferings that bind people?
  3.  When do “tomb times” happen in our lives?
  4. Who takes time to call you forth?
  5. How do you become the Jesus, who calls you forth for others?
  6. Looking back over this Lenten season, how are pain and suffering real blessings?
