“When he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee.”
(Matthew 4:12)

Jailer or Evangelizer

Who have you been imprisoned by lately:
…Your silence,
…Your words,
…Your actions,
…Your omissions?
Not everyone is jailed like the Baptist.
Yet, so many feel imprisoned!
By whom?

…People who are also experiencing hurt,
…People who are prejudiced,
…People who act immature and selfish?

Who have you forgiven lately?
Who has forgiven you?

We need more evangelists in our world.
They bring:
…Love,
…Joy,
…Compassion and understanding,
…Food for the soul,
…Hope,
…Encouragement.

Everyone is called to be evangelizers, not judges or jailers.
Follow the footsteps of John and Jesus.
“Fewer words – more actions” is a good motto.

“Go preach the good news to all the nations!”
And
Make your own actions speak louder that your words.

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. Who hurt you? Whom did you hurt?
  2. Who has forgiven you? Whom have you forgiven?
  3. Which of the characteristics of an evangelist can you do for others?
  4. In our wide world who would you say really needs evangelization?
  5. Is there some way in your parishes, villages, towns, or ministry you might act to begin an evangelization group to bring compassion and understanding to those in need?
