“I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from the Father.”
(John 15:15b)

Chosen Friend

“God Almighty has set in motion the laws that bond one person to another and groups of people to each other. He invented friendship and has set into motion laws that sustain it.”*

Cherish the God who loves you.

He has chosen you and called you friend.

Only one thing he wants.

Serve Him in truth with all your soul, mind and body.

Each person needs to love Him first, then love others as He loves them.

New commandment is to “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Friendship begins with the heavenly Trinity.

Recall the friends you cherish as you journey to eternity.

Inadequacy is having only one friend.

Each friend has some gift to give you that another friend is incapable of giving.

Never make one friend your slave!

Dearly beloved chosen ones, practice inclusiveness as God has shown each of us.

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. Name some of the reasons we bond with friends.
  2. Who were some of God’s friends?
  3. What are some of the ways you can befriend God?
  4. Why are parents solicitous about the friends their children choose?
  5. Why has God chosen us to be His friends?
  6. Some elders are lonely and feel unloved; what can you do about this?
