“Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary?…And they took offense at him.”
(Mark 6:3)

Misjudged

Judged unjustly with no defense but
Utter silence—lonely silence.
Words spoken falsely, insincere words,
Accusing—liar, liar!
Words echoing, knocking at the walls
Of sensitive, hurting conscience,
Bouncing back with stinging volleying.
Words stilled and muffled into silence
By an unwise judge.

Jesus, the wise Judge
Who being Truth, sees truth.

Jesus, vindicator—victor!

No longer am I fearful but am robed in fearlessness,
No longer is my head bowed with shame or guilt,
For false judge shall see
Truth
Misjudged.

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. How were the judgments of the townspeople different from the way of Jesus’ judgments?
  2. How do you feel when you are misjudged?
  3. What serious things can happen when you misjudge others?
  4. What does God say about judging others?
  5. What consequence did the people of Nazareth experience because of their misjudgment?
