in Ordinary Time

Thirtieth-Third Sunday of Ordinary Time — Cycle B

November 15, 2015

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

(Mk 13: 31)

“In the beginning was the Word of God, and the Word was with God.” ( Jn 1:1)

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” (Jn 1:14)

“But the wise shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, and

those who lead many to justice shall be like the stars forever.” (DN 12: 3)

What or who challenges, promises, comforts, calls, sends, teaches, proclaims?

Answer: What? A word.

                Who? The Word made flesh.

Do you want to be one of those”—a star?

  • to be a light shining in earth’s darkness,
  • to be a modern day prophet, proclaiming the WORD,
  • to be the voice for the Lord?

Read, study, and reflect upon Scripture.

Make the Word’s message more than just words; put them into actions.

Then, act as Christ’s messenger of the Word you have received.

Be the Word’s ambassador; make your action’s become as loud as the WORD.

You become His Star in the heavenly universe!

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. Jesus tells us, “Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.”

How are you preparing for the end time?

  1. Why is reading and living the messages of scripture so important in our lives?
  2. What word or phrase caught your attention? Why?
  3. What is the purpose of being a prophet?
  4. When did the followers of Jesus become prophets?
  5. Why do we at times fear to use our prophetic gifts?
