in Ordinary Time

Twenty-seventh Sunday of Ordinary Time

”And the apostles said to the Lord,’Lord increase our Faith” 11 (Lk 17: 5)

Faith is a belief without proof. Where does faith originate? When did you receive the gift of religious faith? The song Faith of our Fathers came to my mind when I began the reflection on this Sunday’s Gospel. “Faith of our fathers! living still in spite of dungeon, fire, and sword…” “Faith of our fathers, holy faith!  We will be true to thee till death.” (BB #493)

Faith is like a Sycamore tree, rooted and grounded.
Faith is like a lighthouse guiding and showing the way.
Faith is like a lamp stand shining upon truth.
Faith is like a loyal friend staying faithful through thick and thin.
Faith is like an innocent child, who takes your hand in complete trust.
Faith is living out of your beliefs.
Faith is like the martyrs, who are courageously willingly face death rather than forsake faith.
Faith is like a mustard seed planted in our souls at Baptism. It grows and matures as we age.

Lord, as did the disciples pleaded, “Lord, increase our Faith.” Amen

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. When, if ever, do you pray and talk to God about today’s national problems?
  2. What has frightened you lately? What or who strengths you in down times?
  3. What cause are you willing to die for?
  4. How often do you pray the Apostles Creed? An act of faith.
  5. What has weakened your gift of Faith?

My faith is being tested. I just lost my job and am seeking new employment. I begin my days declaring my trust in my God and His perfect plan for me.

Are the Sister’s prayers being answer? Remember God never closes a door unless He opens another door for you. We are impatient humans, His timing is perfect. Courage. Auntie Julie
