Sixth Sunday of Easter

May 1, 2016

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I told you.” (Jn 14: 26)

Memory Loss

Have you ever stood at the bottom of the stairs and wondered,

“Am I going up or did I just come down?” (frown)

OR

Have you opened the refrigerator, paused and asked yourself,

“Why did I open this door? What did I want?” (grunt)

OR

Have you ever asked yourself,

“Where did I leave my keys?” (Geez!)

“Don’t worry. Be happy.” There is a cure for sure.

If the Word of God you read, you will succeed.

“The Advocate…will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.”

“Those who love me will be true to my word, and Abba God will love them; and will come to them and make our dwelling place with them. (Jn 14:21)

Ah, Memory Regained!

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. Why do a lot of folks fear memory loss?
  2. Which words in the Gospel reading gives you hope?
  3. What is your favorite prayer to the Holy Spirit?
  4. When and how often do you read and reflect upon Scripture?
  5. Which line from the Sixth Sunday of Easter would you like to memorize?

Hi, Helene, I am glad the poem was a meaningful help to you. Just before I came to the computer, I spoke to a daughter of a Mom who died. It is obvious she is grieving and experiencing memory loss like “Where did I put my keys. It is a bit frightening. I am going to send her this poem and pray
it will help her while she grieves. Join me in your prayers for her. Jm
