How Do You Pray?

Tranquility

Surging,
seething,
surface storms,
Waves

to deep tranquility.
Restlessness
resting
in the hushedness
of the silence of the sea

Sabbath Prayer

surrendering
leaving behind self-interest
on spokes of prayer
to spiral skyward
the hub-bub of the world

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. Who or what is the focus of Jesus’ prayer?
  2. In your estimation, how close are the people of God regarding unity?
  3. What insights are revealed to you in the way Jesus prays?
  4. Where is the best place for you to pray? Why?
  5. Why is a quiet and lonely place needed for prayer?
  6. Where is your quiet space?
  7. Find a quiet spot and like Jesus, raise you eyes to God and say…

Thank you for changing our routine by inviting us to pray from bottom to top. This slowed me down so I read each word.

Renetta, I had not thought of slowing the reader to slow down. Thanks for the new insight. God knows in our busy lives the need for slowing down and taking time to commune with Him. May you have many “slow time,
bottom up” times to refresh you. Love Juliemarie
