Lost Lambs in the Land of the City

Did you see the lost lambs in the city?
How did they get there?
I guess because city folk had closed eyes and closed hearts.
They didn’t recognize the lost lambs and sheep, and they didn’t know who the shepherd was.
Just walk on by. Pretend you don’t see them. Might as well be mannequins for all we care!

Poor needy, lazy bums they are.
Eyes closed and hearts, passer-by’s don’t recognize:

  • Addicts, bums, child-lambs,
  • Drunks, educated jobless, family members.
  • Good gone bad, hucksters, indigent,
    J, K,L,M, …X, Y, Z.
  • You name them. They come from all walks of life.
  • They’ve left the sheepfold; lost their shepherds.

Oh well, maybe the eyes and greedy hearts of:

  • Pimps,
  • Child-abusers, or
    Traffickers,
With eyes wide-open, but hearts closed, will see $$$$$$!

Lost Lambs in the city are still looking and waiting to recognize the voice of a shepherd.

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. Why do we walk by those in need?
  2. What are our fears, our preoccupations?
  3. When will we open our eyes and hearts?
  4. What can I practically do this week for the lost?
  5. If I can’t do it myself, who can I call for assistance?
  6. What are your hopes for these desperate cases, both the greedy and the lost?

The wonderful use of the “alphabet” in naming “those people”.
The challenging questions.
Thank you.
