“Jesus himself drew near and walked with them.”
(Luke 24:15b)

Walking with Strangers

Search your hearts for
Truth that sets you free. Whom do you not
Recognize on your Emmaus Road encounters?
All are made in God’s image.
Never walk past a stranger in need.
Graciously grant them hope.
Enough of your self-absorption, your walking past the marginal strangers,
Recognize in them the face of Jesus.
Search your hearts and walk anew with Jesus, the stranger.

For Reflection and Sharing:

  1. Why do we fear strangers?
  2. Do we really see the face of Jesus in others?
  3. Why are preoccupations dangerous in the spiritual life?
  4. Who needs our hope and burning fire of faith in Jesus?
  5. What truth do we need to face in our lives?
  6. Whom can we give companionship to this week?

Thank you for the beautiful reflection. I see my walk every day as a Emmaus Journey and hope I take the time to see who is walking with me today.
