Shadows and Sonshine

in Lent

Fourth Sunday Lent, Cycle B
March 11, 2018

“But whoever lives the truth comes to the light,
so that his works may be clearly seen as done by God.” (John 3:21)

Sunlight creates shadows.

Lent is a time of soul searching and
Stumbling in the shadows.
Our lives are lived in a boxing ring,
Ducking and dodging our darkness,
Unable to face the shadows until the Son,
Who is the Light, falls gently upon the soul
Like morning dew.

The Son is the Light.
The Son conquered darkness as he hung upon the cross.
We can leave the “boxing ring of Lent” no longer jabbing,
But letting go of our shadow side, we can
Allow it to fade into the brilliant light
Won for us on Calvary.

No wonder we rejoice!
